Getting started
Install BlazeSCP, connect to your first server and copy a file, in about five minutes.
BlazeSCP shows two file panes side by side. Each pane can show your computer or any server, and you copy files by dragging them from one pane to the other.
1. Install
Download BlazeSCP for your platform from the download page and install it like any other app. See Installing for details.
2. Add a server
Click + at the top of the sidebar and fill in:
| Field | What to enter |
|---|---|
| Protocol | SFTP, FTP, FTP with TLS, WebDAV, WebDAV (HTTPS) or Amazon S3 / compatible |
| Host | The server’s name or address, e.g. example.com |
| Port | Leave empty for the default (22 for SFTP, 21 for FTP…) |
| Authentication | Password, SSH key or SSH agent (SFTP), access key (S3) |
| Username | Your account on the server |
Passwords are saved in your system keychain. Already have servers in ~/.ssh/config? Click the import button (next to +) instead; see Quick Connect and importing.
3. Connect
Click the server in the sidebar. The first time, BlazeSCP shows the server’s key fingerprint and asks whether to trust it. If you’re not sure it’s right, compare it with what your hosting provider or administrator shows; once trusted, BlazeSCP will warn you if it ever changes.
When the connection uses post-quantum key exchange, a PQC tag appears next to the server in the sidebar. See Post-quantum SSH.
4. Copy files
- Drag files or folders from one pane to the other, or onto a folder in the other pane.
- Or select them and press ⌘→ (Ctrl+→ on Windows and Linux) to send them to the other pane.
- Drag files in from Finder or Explorer to upload them.
Transfers appear in the queue at the bottom of the window, where you can pause, resume or cancel them. See Transfers.
Where to go next
- The file browser: tabs, filtering, Get Info and permissions
- Transfer settings: speed limits and verification
- Keyboard shortcuts
